Lifting spirits in mid-winter: Christmas in July
For our Wednesday night Open House meal, it was in with the turkey, the spuds and the peas (above). Followed by the custard and the pudding please.  Below you can see the volunteers taking a break from the kitchen but still keeping a safe distance and they are now wearing masks while at work.
Supported by the City of Port Phillip, meals are available to take away every Wednesday from 4.30pm to 6.15pm
 

 

Demand for Emergency Relief up more than 400% in August
The number of people coming for assistance continues to increase.   We are now open every weekday from 10.30am to 1.30pm.  We are seeing more people with reduced employment opportunities.  How do we remain COVID safe?   We have minimal contact.  A food display is provided at the front door, for items to be selected.  Fruit and vegetables are also available, with thanks to Foodbank Victoria and SecondBite.
 

 

How are we staying COVID safe?
Our volunteer cooks wear face masks made by a Patchwork and Quilting group member.  Great care is made to ensure safety comes first when collecting a meal and other items.   As you can see guidelines and barriers are in place to make sure social distancing is made easy while keeping the number of people in the queue flowing.   While it is appreciated by the people who are collecting food, we all look forward to seeing regular programs returning as soon as possible.
