Our first ten year employee
Elaine (centre) has just become our first staff member to complete 10 years with our Centre.  What an achievement for her!    A big thanks and congratulations to Elaine.
Elaine’s background was first in hospitality and horticulture.  She then completed a Diploma in Community Development.   What a great background to equip her for her current role in our Centre as a trainer and as programs and volunteer coordinator.   In her own words: “I feel so fortunate to be able to use my skills to help improve the lives of others and when I approach my work place I sometimes have to pinch myself to realise that I am not dreaming, it’s such a great location and venue and I have a great team to work with.“

Time to consider volunteering? 
We value our volunteers: they make the Community Centre a thriving hub.
With warmer weather and longer days, new volunteers (some above) have joined us to respond to the needs of our local community.
We welcome all levels of abilities.  We have local residents who require assistance in their gardens and we have volunteers who are keen to assist them.  One of our challenges is finding drivers with a vehicle for transporting gardening equipment and volunteers to jobs.  If this is something that you’re able to help with, we would love to hear from you on 9534 9250. 
New Training course in Hospitality and Horticulture
We provide hands on training in Hospitality and Horticulture, with an introductory 7-week course.   The courses are well attended and provide the first step for some people in their personal and professional development pathways.  Skilled volunteers are able to share their knowledge and experience as mentors in these programs.  We notice how much the participants benefit from being given a little extra encouragement and support.
